The roots of CBI-electric date back to 1949, when a joint venture was established as part of the then Heinemann Electric Company in Trenton, New Jersey, USA. Following its merger with Fuchs Electrical Industry in 1986, a new company called Circuit Breaker Industries (CBI) was formed, with its head office in Johannesburg, South Africa. CBI-electric is wholly owned by Reunert. Thanks to its global success, CBI-electric has prospered for more than five decades and has become a leader in the design, development, and manufacture of hydraulic-magnetic circuit breakers.
CBI hydraulic-magnetic circuit breakers are used in heavy-duty segments, such as the rail industry, telecommunications, and energy storage.
