Thermik GmbH is a multinational company based in Germany. With 4 manufacturing plants and more than 900 employees, it manufactures bimetallic temperature protection and PTC thermistors, which are mainly used in electric motors and non-rotating machines, household appliances, and heating elements. Founded in 1968, the company is now an innovative leader in this segment with more than 1,000 patents (80% in the industry). Thermik specialises in the development and manufacture of bimetallic thermal protection. However, its product range also includes PTC thermistors for thermal protection of motors or customised PTC heating elements.
Resettable thermal fuses are used as temperature protection and safety elements in electric motors, temperature elements, transformers, and household appliances, such as blenders and kettles.
Resettable thermal fuses are divided into normally closed (NC) and normally open (NO). Common equipment (electric motors, transformers, heating equipment, etc.) are usually equipped with NC thermal protectors. NO thermal protectors are more suitable for ensuring safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operation of equipment (e.g., by switching on a cooling element, such as a fan, etc.).
